In a terrific article on Gizmodo written by Jesus Diaz, we get an amazing look at consolidation. It makes a little more tangible how America got to the mathematics of an affluent 1%. Corporate power and consolidation is often thought of as a nebulous talking point for lefties; a kind of conspiracy theory. Regardless of how you feel about larger companies swallowing up smaller ones - sharks opening their mouths to minnows comes to mind - the article's graphs are a revelation. For those of us who work in the entertainment industry, it's spooky. For those with big stakes in major financial institutions, it's an accounting of their success.
